Awards Celebration - Wed. 23rd Oct.

October 24 2019, 11:08am

We enjoyed a great night of celebration in Naomh Barróg GAA Club on Wednesday 23rd October

What were we celebrating?

  • Our students' QQI achievements
  • The retirement of Rose, our Adult Literacy Organiser
  • 40 years of KLEAR writings

We began by awarding the very well-deserved certificates to our students who were applauded by their friends and families.

We then had the launch of our KLEAR Writings Book 2019.  Each year our students create marvellous pieces of work - essay, poems, reflections - and every two years we ask them to submit them and they are compiled and printed.  So our students can quite rightfully claim to be published authors.

Our evening was celebratory but also tinged with sadness as we said goodbye to our long-standing and highly influential ALO, Rose Brownen, after decades of service to KLEAR.  We were joined on the night by students, guests, colleagues and family to mark her career with speeches and presentations.  There was a wealth of affection and kindness for her in the room and we all wish her a happy, healthy and fulfilling retirement.

A huge Thank You to everyone who contributed to making the night such a success.
